A sabbatical with a purpose
I resigned from my position as Historian at the Medgar and Myrlie Evers Home National Monument in January 2025. I have been in leadership roles, managing departments, and doing public history work since completing graduate school, and I am ready to take advantage of opportunities that I was not able to pursue while working full-time. During my sabbatical, I've gotten to stretch my skills as a writer and researcher, gain clarity about my career goals, contribute to my local community, and dive deep into creative projects.
I am a champion multitasker and a jack of all trades. Shoot me an email and let's talk about what's possible.

Here's what I've been up to
My current roles:
Writing projects abound. I am currently reviewing the final proof of my chapter in Public History in Global Perspective: Inquiry, Exchange and Practice, which is forthcoming from De Gruyter in 2025. I recently wrote and published my newest tabletop role-playing games: Accoutrements, a card game about arcane tools and Faustian bargains (which won Best Remix in Techdirt's Gaming Like It's 1929 Game Jam!), and Thank You for the Music, a game about creating the next great ABBA jukebox musical.
In February, I attended Working Together Mississippi's Leadership and Organizing Training in Louisville, Mississippi, with community leaders from across the state. I've been working closely with Working Together Jackson to build power and connect with candidates ahead of our municipal elections.
I designed and built the set for New Stage Theatre Unframed's production of Fairview by Jackie Sibblies Drury. I performed in Fondren Theatre Workshop's world premiere production of The Invention of Language by Steven G. Smith—I played Bar/Golden Rose/Gomez and served as the production's music director. Next up, I am understudying the roles of Bonnie and Beulah in New Stage Theatre's production of Come From Away, which will mark my debut as a professional actor.
I am also spending as much time as I can traveling to new places, walking around my beautiful neighborhood, sewing myriad things out of found fabric, keeping my over-1300-day crossword streak going, and trying to bring my sourdough starter back to life.
